Greek and International celebrities who got married on the island of the winds
Some of the most famous weddings have taken place in the most cosmopolitan destination of Greece, catching the eye of the whole world. Mykonos Post, presents some glamorous weddings that have taken place on the Aegean island.
Petros Costopoulos – Jenny Balatsinou
The wedding took place in Mykonos 25 years ago, with a lot of politicians, artists, and celebrities from Athens attending it. Back then, Petros Costopoulos, a well-known businessman, and Jenny Balatsinou, a famous model, were the most beautiful couple in Greek showbiz. They had three children together, Amalia, Alexandra and Maximos. Now, however, they are divorced. Nevertheless their wedding in 1996 was the event of the year. The ceremony and the wedding reception took place in an idyllic spot on the island of the winds with many guests rushing to congratulate the couple and enjoy the party.
Doukissa Nomikou – Dimitris Theodoridis
The couple met for the first time in Mykonos in 2014. No wonder why they chose to get married there too. On June 10, 2017, they got married in the picturesque church of Archangel Michael in Agios Ioannis, exchanging vows of eternal love. Doukissa was impressive, wearing a romantic wedding dress, created by Silia Kritharioti. They have two children and they live happily together in a beautiful house in Kifissia.
Dimitris Argyropoulos – Silia Dragouni
Dimitris Argyropoulos had been married to the talk show presenter Maria Bakodimou, with whom they had two sons, Aris and Nikitas. In 2008, after their divorce, the publisher got married to the designer Silia Dragouni, and they had a son, Joe. They had two maids of honor and a best man: Petros Costopoulos, Ira Katsantoni – daughter of Elpida, the famous singer, and Chryssa Filippi – owner of the famous Filippi’s restaurant in Matogiannia. Along with the wedding in Agios Sostis in Mykonos, the christening of their baby boy Joe Argyropoulos took place as well, the designer Sophie Deloudis being the godmother. After the two ceremonies, the couple hosted their guests at Panormos beach. The famous designer arrived at the legendary restaurant of Christos Zaglaras, where the reception took place, barefoot, getting out of a jeep full of women. The groom, Dimitris Argyropoulos,did exactly the same, arriving in a jeep full of men. More than 1000 people attended the reception, some of whom became the protagonists of some “unfortunate” events. At some point two of the guests started quarreling with the restaurant owner, Christos Zaglaras. Eventually, tempers calmed down, giving way to dancing, laughing, teasing, and fun until the wee hours of the morning.
Erietta Kourkoulou Latsi – Vyronas Vassiliadis
Last summer, the daughter of Marianna Latsis and the late Nikos Kourkoulos, Erietta, got married to Vyronas Vassiliadis in Mykonos, under extreme secrecy. The wedding took place on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in the small church of Agrari beach with a limited number of guests, i.e. the family, and some close friends. The bride arrived at the church by boat, in a beautiful wedding dress, created by Vrettos Vrettakos. The striking couple wanted to keep this beautiful moment private, so very few photos circulated in the media.
Athena Oikonomakou – Filippos Michopoulos
In October 2018, Athena Oikonomakou and Filippos Michopoulos got married on the island of the winds, among friends, associates, and many famous guests. The ceremony took place in the chapel of the hotel owned by the well-known businessman at Ornos, with Athena arriving by boat, escorted by her father and brother. The bride looked stunning in her wedding dress, created by Silia Kritharioti. The reception must have been really enjoyable, the highlight of it being, as many guests have commented, Panos Mouzourakis singing one of his famous songs to honor the couple.
Ana Beatriz Barros – Karim El Chiaty
The Greek-Egyptian billionaire, Karim El Chiaty, married his beloved, Ana Beatriz Barros, a famous Victoria’s Secret model, in Mykonos. Having said that they both were big fans of the island, they decided to spend the most beautiful day of their lives there. The wedding took place at the town hall, with increased security measures. A lot of guests, including a number of high-profile businessmen and celebrities, arrived on the island to celebrate the wedding of the beloved couple.
